Atlanta Naval Air Station Home Security
The Atlanta naval air station is located twenty miles north of Atlanta in Marietta in the county of Cobb. The early settlers formed a government in the year 1832. In the year 1847, Atlanta became an incorporated town and the symbol of the state is the Legendary bird Phoenix. The department of the Navy selected the Fort Gordon in late 1940’s for the naval aviation base. This was later converted to an airfield during World War 1. Later this was converted into a new base for air force. This was officially commissioned on March 22 1941, to train marine and navy corps aviators. This was later designated as the U.S Naval Air Station in January 1943.
