Bay City Home Security

Bay City is near Saginaw Bay on Lake Huron, one of the Great Lakes. It is the county seat of Bay County, Michigan and is the home to 33,874 people at last count. The city was first established in 1837 and was incorporated in 1865. The famed Saginaw River split’s the city into two halves. Bay City is also famous for this interesting fact: it is believed that the basis of the Paul Bunyan fable comes from actual lumberjack, Fabian “Saginaw Joe” Fournier, who was a staple along the riverfront for many years.

Winter Weather Safety Tips

Bay City, like much of Michigan, is no stranger to cold winter weather. It is also very important that the residents think of their home security and safety as the winter season kicks into high gear. When people think of home security, they often immediately think of crime, but that is not the only threat facing your family, especially during colder weather.

Keep a cold weather emergency kit stocked and accessible at all times. It should include non-perishable food that can be eaten without reheating, candles and matches, flashlights, a battery operated radio, extra blankets and fresh water.

Have your furnace cleaned and serviced on a regular basis- especially if it is an older model. If it is too old to be considered safe or efficient, it might be safer and cheaper to have a new one installed.

In addition to protecting your Bay City home from outside threats like break-ins and vandals, a Bay City home security system can also protect against fires and carbon monoxide leaks that can be even more of a threat during winter’s extremes.
