Brinks Alarm System – How It Works

A Brinks alarm system is more than just a control panel and a collection of sensors and alarms. The caring, professional monitors who watch over your home make up the heart of the system. These highly trained people watch over your home 24/7 every day of the year, protecting you, your loved ones, and your house and property.

Sounding the Alarm

When a sensor on your Brinks — sometimes misspelled as Brinx or Brincks — alarm system detects an intruder — either the person’s movement, body heat, or both — it sounds an ear-piercing, 95-decibel siren. Hopefully, the sound alone is enough to scare off the intruder. The alarm also alerts a monitoring professional at the Brinks monitoring center. (Other alarms can notify the monitors of other kinds emergencies such as medical and fire.)

Responding to the Alarm

The people who make up the living heart of the Brinks alarm system are dedicated professionals who know that an immediate response is essential to your safety. So as soon as they receive an alarm, they call your house. If you answer, they report the alarm and then ask if you’re safe and need help. If you do, they notify the proper authorities. If you don’t answer the phone, the monitor notifies the appropriate authorities and asks them to investigate.

The professionals who monitor the Brinks (Brinx or Brincks) alarm system, though, do more than simply respond to an alarm. They know key information about you that can help in protecting you, your family, and your home.

In one case, a Brinks alarm system customer who had impaired hearing fell asleep while waiting for some eggs to boil. Eventually the Smoke and Heat Detector alarm went off, but because of her hearing loss she didn’t hear it. But the alarm alerted the monitor. When the monitor called and received no answer, she notified the fire department. She added that the customer had impaired hearing. Firemen rushed to her home and found her safe but asleep. The Brinks alarm system helped save her life and also her home. (The only injury was smoke damage to her house.)

Obtaining Peace of Mind from a Brinks Alarm System

The most recent burglary statistics in the FBI Uniform Report for 2008 show a 2% increase in burglaries over last year. Two percent might not seem like much. But in 2007 the FBI reported 2,179,140 burglaries. In 2008 the figure rose to 2,222,196, which is an increase of 43,056 burglaries. That’s no small number — especially if you happen to be one of those statistics.

A Brinks alarm system can help prevent you from becoming a figure in next year’s FBI Uniform Crime Report. Instead, you can have peace of mind knowing that you, your loved ones, and your home are safe. Whether the potential threat be criminal, medical, or fire — the professional monitors and the equipment that make up your Brinks alarm system will watch over you 24/7 every 365 days a year.

No matter how you spell it — Brinx, Brincks, or Brinks — you’re in good hands with a Brinks alarm system.
