- Do not talk to strangers. Adults do not ask children for help finding their puppies or for directions. Repeat this lesson over and over.
- Go over the plan of action if someone does approach them.
- Have a safe word or phrase for adults who might be authorized to pick them up from school during an emergency. Change the code frequently especially if you think your child has said it a time or two.
- Do not put your child’s full name on his/her book bag or other easily readable items- a stranger will use that to gain trust.
